For Covers, Avatar asked 10 artists to knit ear mittens from 10 existing pieces of music, using someone else’s hands as a knitting mould. As a reflection of the hyperindustrialized age we live in, we also asked them to work on their own, avoiding any contact with the other artists. When all the results were in, Avatar took on itself the task of assembling the final product.

What’s hiding under that zebra’s skin? Some kind of pony? What does the mitten tell you about the hand that lived inside? The shoe about the foot? Take away the mould—nothing left but the outline. Don’t look for the hand—it’s long gone. But if the shoe fits…
