Markers
Invited Artists
During pandemic
The world is being redefined; the signals of our civilization are crumbling. As conventional markers lose their meaning, we have to make new foghorns vibrate, light unexpected lanterns for an irrevocable world that cannot be turned back to the beginning.
In view of the widespread closures in Quebec this spring, and aware of the financial precariousness they are exerting on workers in the cultural milieu, Avatar has chosen to maintain its function as a belt by initiating a new home-based creation platform for audio artists.
Twenty-five artists have been chosen to create a 3-minute work of sound art on the notion of markers. These Miniatures will be published at a rate of 3 per week, starting in April. At the same time, 4 other artists will each create a 25-30 minute sound Excavation based on the same notion. They will be published at a rate of one per week from June 3.
