JI TONG YA JIANG

Wu Quan

Performance

The Chinese artist is hosted in residence for a two weeks as part of the Québec City/Xi’an exchange initiated by Le Lieu, centre en art actuel.

At Avatar, Wu Quan is presenting JI TONG YA JIANG, a performative conversation in the Studio. In this project, the artist is using the voice as a sound material. If two people do not understand each other’s language, the language becomes a sound. Can the voice break the language barrier?

Le Lieu, centre en art actuel, in partnership with the Xiang Xishi Center For Contemporary Art and in collaboration with Avatar, LA CHAMBRE BLANCHE and VU, is inviting us to discover the artistic practices of six Chinese artists during the first part of the Québec City / Xi’an exchange artistic.

The kick-off of the exchange is launched at Le Lieu, centre en art actuel, on Friday, May 11 at 7 pm with a conference on the state of art and performance art in China followed by performances presented by Li Xiaomu and Xiang Xishi.
