The residencies linked to this competition are awarded based on “projects” and take place in partner studios: the GRM of INA (Paris), GMEM (Marseille), Euphonia (Marseille), Centre Culturel de Rencontres de l’Abbaye de Noirlac. In each of these studios, the full range of recording and post-production resources will be adapted to the needs of each selected project.

Avatar and Phonurgia Nova offer optimal conditions for this residency. At Avatar, the selected artist will have access to the recording studio, the control room, the editing studio, the electronic laboratory, and the common space, all designed to support their explorations, encourage discussion, and facilitate production. The artist will benefit from specialized artistic and technical support to successfully carry out their creative project.

Contribution from Avatar

• A 2-week research and creation residency at Avatar in Quebec (fall 2027, dates to be confirmed with the selected artist).
• Artistic and technical assistance for 28 hours per week.
• Access to production, post-production spaces, and specialized equipment.
• A residency fee of 2,700 CAD.
• Assistance finding accommodation in Quebec.

Contribution from Phonurgia Nova

• A lump sum of 2,000 € to cover travel, accommodation, and stay expenses in Quebec.
