In 2012 Avatar invited the multiform collective Signal Panache for a research residency entitled Énigmachines, based on an idea by Émile Morin. The artists looked at networked works, specifically those in which the network itself took a lead role: Énigmachines thus seeks to foreground the network itself.

In Signal Panache’s experiments, the stream of information connecting one object to the next was meaningful, with its own form crying out to be seen. Signal Panache for this work comprised Jocelyn Robert, Boris Dumesnil-Poulin, Frédérique Laliberté, and Pierre-Olivier Fréchet-Martin.
