PATRICE COULOMBE

La chambre aux anomalies

2013

Biography

Patrice Coulombe is a sound artist who has worked in the fields of installation and performance for over ten years. The parallels between distance and duration, as well as situations engendered by expectation and absence, are concepts that have strongly influenced his artistic practice. His actions are based primarily on the rerouting of technologies and the intensification of their dysfunctions. His sound montages are presented in the form of found archival documents (deteriorated) that situate the act of listening in the midst of suspended time. In addition to these artistic projects, Coulombe collaborates regularly on the design of media environments for various Canadian and foreign initiatives. He teaches sound art and interactive media art at the École des médias of the Université du Québec à Montréal. He lives in Montreal.
