Chambouler
Chambouler Murielle Dupuis-Larose (1993)

Chambouler was Avatar’s first-ever installation. Murielle Dupuis-Larose’s project was completed after a two-week residency spent assembling it.

Setting aside interactive gadgetry and other high-tech approaches, Dupuis-Larose used natural materials for her sound installation, hanging them upside‑down from the ceiling. Audience members brushed against long plant stalks as they walked through the room, producing soft, rustling sounds. Human verticality—the cornerstone of technologism itself—was thereby called into question.
