Zone radio
Zone radio Marjolaine Bourdua (2009)

Bourdua’s sound piece Zone radio, a phantom radio program and work of streaming fiction, grew out an interest in radio.

Bourdua’s sound piece Zone radio, a phantom radio program and work of streaming fiction, grew out an interest in radio. It looks at the relationship between the voice, sound, and the universe, specifically addressing its pop music feel. She made a series of recordings outside nightclubs and looked at using radio signatures as motifs to break up the flow and turn the act of listening back on itself.

Zone radio was also an experimental sound project centred on world of radio. Its conceptual side draws too on Bourdua’s interest in the broader idea of sound archives.
