Lost in binary Translation
Lost in binary Translation Lukas Truniger (2016)

Mentored by Avatar, Switzerland artist Lukas Truniger is welcomed at Coopérative Méduse in the context of a Pépinières Européennes residency, from April 4 to July 1, 2016, for the Lost in binary Translation's project.

Lukas Truniger's work shapes the invisible systems that constitute the environment in which we live and with which we are constantly connected through language and through the senses. Drawing on his knowledge of music, he explores the boundaries of this language by developing closed algorithms as generative structure that causes the loss of its meaning to its abstraction.

In this intent, he is pursuing the development of Lost in binary Translation. The ongoing development process unfolds around an intangible device: an antenna. This antenna prototype becomes part of an interface that intercepts and modifies the ubiquitous signals in the saturated space of imperceptible information, then again become open to interpretation.

The new piece on which the artist is working leads him to fully open his understanding of systems, and the experience he made to touch this abstraction. The ongoing development process unfolds around an intangible device: an antenna. This antenna prototype becomes part of an interface that intercepts and modifies the ubiquitous signals in the saturated space of imperceptible information, then again become open to interpretation.

During his residency, Lukas Truniger was honored internationally. In April, he was a finalist Cube Award 2016 young international creation in digital art in Paris for his work Déjà entendu I An Opera Automaton. In May, he flew in the direction of Hong Kong to present the project as part of the 22nd International Symposium on Electronic Art - ISEA 2016.

Installation Déjà entendu I An Opera Automaton is currently exhibiting at the Arsenal in Montreal as part of the AUTOMATA exposure BIAN 2016. You have until July 3 to discover!
