Schallmauer
Schallmauer Sabica Senez (2009)

Schallmauer (The Sound Barrier) used short archival recordings of people reuniting after a forced separation—a wrongly convicted prisoner and his wife, a hostage and his children, two sisters separated by a hurricane.

Schallmauer (The Sound Barrier) used short archival recordings of people reuniting after a forced separation—a wrongly convicted prisoner and his wife, a hostage and his children, two sisters separated by a hurricane. This arresting work evokes the suffering engendered by absence and the act of waiting for a loved one in danger. Schallmauer is the sound our separation makes when it ends. It is the sound of hope.

Schallmauer, Sabica Senez’s first solo CD, was published by OHM in 2009.
