The Méduse Cooperative is happy to welcome Joonas Siren, Finnish in situ audio installation and performance artist, for a research-creation residency. He is counting on Avatar’s expertise for the duration of his stay.
Joonas Siren is working on a multi-channel audio installation using grasshoppers and crickets sounds. As humans age, their hearing declines, and high frequencies become inaudible. Siren records these insects’ songs, alters them and plays them in various frequencies. As he modulates high frequencies into lower ones, he brings them back in the spectrum of audible signals.
