RePartitura
RePartitura Mariana Shellard et Tuti Fornari (2011)

Brazilian artist Mariana Shellard was invited to Avatar’s studios to work on the fourth version of her project entitled RePartitura. The audio installation, which was based on the aural representation of a series of gestural drawings, was inspired by the marks left by a knife wound. The mapped drawings produced the sound.

Although very similar, the 300 drawings used for RePartitura were not identical. The subtle differences and changes in the gesture were also discernible in the project’s audio track. RePartitura, which had been in development for over two years when it was presented in the Avatar studios in 2011, was co-created by musician and researcher Tuti Fornari. As a result, the work was in constant evolution and subject to many variations.
