In 2008, 95 years after the appearance of the Italian Futurist Luigi Russolo’s L’arte dei Rumori, 10 artists were invited by project curator Érick d’Orion to celebrate the importance of this text for the event L’art des bruits. The performances of these audio artists reveal them as worthy avatars of the “monster” Russolo created.

The performances of these audio artists reveal them as worthy avatars of the “monster” Russolo created.

 

Luigi’s Avatar is a compilation of these sound performances. It is also an exploration of the legacy of Russolo’s text and the Bruitists in contemporary art and the questions that continue to haunt audio art today.
