Steeve Lebrasseur and David Michaud designed and created the interactive portion of Murielle Dupuis-Larose’s video installation Le couloir for the Avatar’s Le Nom de la Chose laboratory. Visitors entered an empty room where only one wall showed a moving projection of blue water in an indoor swimming pool. Sensing the visitors’ presence, a young swimmer appeared, approached, and disappeared. It was a thoroughly unsettling experience.
Dupuis-Larose developed the installation during a residency at La Bande Vidéo and presented it in Tunisia and Mexico as well as in Montreal, Quebec City, and a number of other Canadian cities. It received the Videre Événement Award in 2003.
