L’atopie textuelle
L’atopie textuelle Alain-Martin Richard, Martin Mainguy, David Michaud (2000)

L’atopie textuelle was a project by the Causes perdues collective (Mainguy and Richard).

L’atopie textuelle was a project by the Causes perdues collective (Mainguy and Richard). It was an artistic collaboration that occurred simultaneously on Earth and on the Internet. The collective asked Avatar to create the IT infrastructure that would support the sound poem linked to the project’s website. Michaud designed and created the system for organizing and reading the data collected. He also helped created the logic and processing software that would combine the sounds.

Launched in Quebec City on December 21, 2000, L’atopie textuelle invited participants to distribute metal circles taken from a perforated sculpture by passing them from person to person. Participants signed up on the project website and submitted a short digital production to indicate their participation. The project received support from the Daniel Langlois Foundation for Art, Science, and Technology.
