Boris Firquet presented the video installation Fish’n Chips at Quebec City’s VU for the Au-delà de la forme national media arts conference. Developed with Avatar’s David Michaud, Fish’n Chips was a two-part computerized system.

First, fish swimming in an aquarium were filmed using a camera connected to a computer, which analyzed their location and speed. Next, the interpretation system received the data and played a collection of audio and video material in real time. The behaviour of the fish thus acted as an organic controller for an aleatoric score, unpredictably modifying the virtual environment imposed on them by the artist.
