As part of the Art et contexte : points de rencontre arts exchange between Quebec and Columbia, Avatar hosted Raùl Ernesto Luna in Quebec City from November 10 to December 10, 2000. Quebec City’s James Partaik’s Bogota residency ran from November 19 to December 20, 2000.

Raùl Ernesto Luna’s residency was spent exploring and developing the sound world of a performance. Avatar’s David Michaud developed software allowing one-minute loops to accumulate data and thus produce an accumulating memory of actions constituting a performance. The soundtrack for the performance was presented on the Excavation sonore program in November 2000.

At the ASAB gallery in Bogota, James Partaik presented a sound piece entitled Les tas/L’état de nos pays. The work used MIDI control software developed at Le Nom de la Chose, Avatar’s electronic lab.
