On October 9, 1999, Avatar presented Paul Dutton and Laetitia Sonami in concert.
During the show, each artist delivered a separate performance in order to contrast two different aspects of audio art.
Sound poet Paul Dutton had only his vocal chords for an instrument, whereas Laetitia Sonami used new technologies—in particular, a glove controller she designed—to add a media aspect to her work. The sounds were part of a vast acoustic environment created by gestures.
The evening ended with an improvisation session bringing together both artists. Jocelyn Robert used computers to manipulate the sound, and Diane Landry presented La morue [The Cod].
