Compost 2
Compost 2 Artistes Anonymes (1999)

Avatar’s Compost series looked at nature’s transformative cycle, coming down squarely on the side of decomposing and recomposing our society’s waste sound.

Compost 2 was 30 minutes of communion with the wild and untameable nature of sound. It was the sequel to Compost. Both audio creation projects were based on the principle of recuperation as practised in filmmaking. Audio artists collected sonic waste—samples, musical fragments, electroacoustic treatments, and other scraps—for reworking.

Compost 2, like Compost, was released on an irregularly shaped disk with many short, anonymous untitled tracks. And once again, copyright had no place there.

The disk was launched in 1999.
