2016 Prix Avatar
2016 Prix Avatar Alexandre Bérubé (2017)

Recipient of the 2016 Prix Avatar, Alexandre Bérubé is in residency at Avatar from April 4 to May 8, 2017. In Avatar's studio, this artist is working from the following questions: What can be made audible, or even visible, trough headphone? What can it reveal in the space of an installation?

Carrying with his work on basic furniture, tables and chairs, in exhibition spaces and on the effect produced by these objects, Alexandre Bérubé approaches the headphones as both an object and an apparatus. Interested in voice and speech, he took the opportunity of this residence to record conversations and interviews about the figure of the alter ego and the persona in visual arts practices.
