Jocelyn Robert presented a performance at the Audio Art Festival in Krakow, Poland.
The event was held in a room with piezoelectric buzzers—crystals that vibrate and emit a sound when activated by an electric frequency—suspended from the ceiling. The audience was plunged into total darkness, with sounds coming from above them.
The sounds came from a single source at the beginning, then another was added. The two sources sounded at tempos that were slightly out of phase. A third source was added, followed by another and another until the ceiling sparkled like a beautiful summer night’s sky. Then audible stars winked out one by one, until the room was dark and silent once more.
