1983
1983 Mériol Lehmann (2010)

1983 was a new media installation that invited viewers to consider the way implicit memory affects the way we perceive land and time.

The installation, looking more like a photograph than a video, involved a looped image whose almost imperceptible movement prompted viewers to question their perception of time. The image processing also brought spectators to complete the image by drawing on their own memories to situate the location displayed. This caused them to identify strongly with the work. Using software specially developed by the artist for this project, it brought photography into the domain of the moving image in a new way.

1983 was on display during Mois Multi 11 in the Avatar studio in 2010.
